  MOST DANGEROUS LIZARS Lizards are a diverse group of reptiles that belong to the order Squamata, which also includes snakes. They have scaly skin, four legs (except for some legless species), movable eyelids, and external ear openings.                                                 Kottiyoor Wildlife Sanctuary was constituted in 2011 by the G.O.(p) 17/2011/F&WLD Dated 01.03.2011, for the purpose of protecting, propagating and developing wildlife and its habitat and to maintain continuity

with existing protected areas. The 30.3798 square kilometers of area of vested forests of Odenthodu malavaram and part of Kottiyoor reserve forest containing semi evergrren and evergreen forests and grassland, shoal ecosystem is now turned to a protected area.

Important animals found in this sanctuary are boar, elephant, Indian bison, leopard, jungle cat, various types of squirrels and deer
There are about 170 bird species belonging to 43 families. Important among them are Broad tailed grass warbler, Malabar pied hornbill and Nilgiri wood pigeon.

Flora consists of  Artocarpus hirsutus, Cullenia excels, Epiprinus mallotiformis, Elacocarpus tuberculatus, Garcinia gummi-gutta, Garcinia Morella, degree Celsius,  Mangifera indica, palaquium ellipticum, Vateria indica, Calophyllum elatum, Bischofia juvanica, Knema attenuate, Acrocarpus fraxinifolius, Cinnamomum Sp., Holigarna ferruginea, Lophopetalum wightianum, Sapindus iquarifolia, Meliosma simplicifolia, Syzygium cumini, Toona ciliate, Adenia wightiana, Artobotrys zeylanicus, Entada rheedi, Mucuna hirsute, Naravelia zeylanicus, Salacia beddomei etc.
